Costa Rica Tour

Costa Rica / Nicaragua

ONLY 4 SPACES REMAINING

NOVEMBER 9 – 20, 2024

This tour includes everything we had hoped and even a few extras.

Costa Rica is among the most environmentally protected countries in the world and we’ll go to our favourite National Park (Tortuguero).

Nicaragua has a very complicated history, but is beautiful, friendly and remarkably SAFE.

So here is the breakdown:

You will fly into and out of San Jose SJO – Arriving anytime you like on the 9th (or a day before if you like) and fly out on the 20th (try for a later flight if possible). Depending upon times, we may have a transfer for you, or you may need to take a taxi into the city.

DAY 1

Arrive to Costa Rica (they have no army, but they do have passport control)

Hotel Presidente (or similar) https://www.hotel-presidente.com/en/

Catch up, visit the market, have a drink!

DAY 2 & 3

Transfer to Tortuguero National Park (first by bus, then by boat)

We will stay at the beautiful Pachira Lodge https://www.pachiralodge.com/ – full board (breakfast / lunch / dinner) & tours – I love this place

DAY 4 & 5

Boat back to where we meet a coach, and head to La Fortuna for two nights (b’fast / Dinner) at hotel Arinal Volcano Inn (or similar) https://arenalvolcanoinn.com/

We’ll have many activities planned in that region and you may even want to zip-line!

DAY 6, 7 & 8

Now we are off to fascinating (and hot) Nicaragua. After the border formalities, we will make our way to historic Granada on the shores of mighty Lake Nicaragua. Our plan is to stay in the colonial hotel La Gran Francia https://www.lagranfrancia.com/ located steps from everywhere!

We’ll have a tour of this city and a boat tour on the famous lake! We will also have a free afternoon to enjoy this beautiful city.

After two nights in Granada, we will make a short visit to the capital, Managua and onto equally historic Leon (where we should climb to the top of the cathedral). Our hotel for that night will be El Convento https://www.elconventonicaragua.com/

DAY 9 & 10

We will travel back to the Costa Rican Border via a National Park – cross the border and head to Tamarindo where we will stay at the Wyndham https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/es-xl/wyndham/tamarindo-costa-rica/wyndham-tamarindo/overview?CID=LC:46q62bu8edfbx3y:51092

Of course day 10 is a free day – if you like the beach, it is beautiful, or there are so many activities to choose from.

DAY 11

After a sleep in – or a morning swim, we will transfer back up to the Capital, San Jose through a remarkably diverse environment. Overnight back at the Presidente. Depending upon flight times, the city of San Jose can be quite interesting.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

Transfers, tours, hotels, food where listed (some meals to be confirmed), etc!

Not included: Flights (there are quite easy), tips, drinks, shopping, etc

Cost (in USD): $2500 pp based on double / single supplement will be an additional $550 (roughly)

This will fill up! We will cap the group at 18 + Patrick (and often a local guide) – buses in the region generally hold 22. We already have enough people for this trip to run.
