Beautiful Colombia
November 29 – December 11, 2026
One of our favorite countries to tour and this particular trip is full of adventure and spectacular scenery
We will fly in and out of Bogota’s very modern airport (flights from North America are remarkably short and efficient).
Itinerary:
We’ll plan to meet in Bogota November 29 and stay in a modern, central hotel (breakfast is a huge highlight). Bogota is the third (or forth) highest Capital in the world!
DAY 1: NOVEMBER 30 BOGOTA
We will first go to Monserrate (you may hike up or take the incline railway). Views are spectacular!
After a good visit, we will meet at the bottom and walk into the historic Old City for lunch and a visit – you may choose to visit the famous Gold Museum!
DAY 2: DECEMBER 1 HONDA
Today we will travel through incredible scenery down to the Town of Honda and the massive Magdalena River. This is a historic town founded in 1539!
DAY 3: DECEMBER 2 MANIZALES
Now we travel back up (and out of the heat) to beautiful Manizales – a city built on a series of hills, connected with cable cars.
DAY 4: DECEMBER 3 NEVADO DEL RUIZ
Nevado del Ruiz! Today we travel even higher up – we may even see snow in the tropics. This volcanic National Park is spectacular. We can visit hot springs on the way down. Fantastic day!
DAY 5: DECEMBER 4 MEDELLIN
Manizales to Medellin via a coffee plantation and Rio Sucio. Now we travel down into Colombia’s famous ‘eternal spring climate’ ideal for coffee. Rio Sucio is an amazing, historic town with a biannual ‘devil festival’ (the different religions were united by a common belief in evil). Then onto famous Medellin for three nights.
DAY 6: DECEMBER 5 MEDELLIN
City tour and Barrio 13 – once dangerous, now the area is an arts centre. And yes, we’ll hear all about Pablo Escobar!
DAY 7: DECEMBER 6 MEDELLIN
El Peñol & Guatape – the best and most beautiful day trip from Medellin!
DAY 8 – 11: DECEMBER 7 -10 LETICIA
Now our world changes as we fly from Medellin, through Bogota all the way to Leticia – the Amazon! This is where Colombia meets Brazil and Peru. We can set foot in all three countries, travel on the Amazon, bird watch and eat delicious food. This will be a package operated by a local agent.
DAY 12: DECEMBER 11
Fly up to Bogota where you can either have a last overnight, or connect home! Further details to come as we confirm numbers and hotels.
