Karen Meek
Mrs. Meek, beside me, on my right, in Belfast, Ireland
Living the semi-nomadic life as I do, I have the pleasure of meeting so many truly enjoyable people, yet from time to time, I also have to say goodbye. Very sadly, I learned yesterday of the loss of Mrs. Karen Meek, a kind, warm and dignified woman who has traveled with me on several trips.
Most recently Karen traveled with us through Ireland and Scotland. As always, Karen was enthusiastic, interested and engaged. Although she clearly suffered with arthritis, she never complained and even climbed to the top of Blarney Castle!
I was honoured to speak with Karen’s brother in Texas and know she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Sadly, Karen lost her husband several years ago and tragically lost a son. She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren and extended family.
As I write this submission I am sitting in sunny Anchorage, Alaska. Last year Karen visited this beautiful state on one of our trips and she was the one who most enthusiastically encouraged me to set up the Ireland / Scotland journey.
Thank you Karen for being the person you were. It was most certainly my pleasure to know you.
