The spectacular Andes are calling! Cusco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, Colca Canyon & the Amazon. Peru is one of the most bio-diverse countries in the world and the heart of Inca culture.
If you are a longtime follower of 2me Travel, you may have read some of our articles about Peru or followed our many tours and travel in the region. We are willing to say we are Peru experts and are passionate about the country.
This year’s tour will be begin in late November. This will be a small group as the itinerary will be unique and rather complicated (don’t worry, we take care of all the details)!
*Please note, exact dates may change slightly due to internal flight and train schedules.
These are the highlights:

Arrive into Lima’s NEW Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) where you will be met and transferred to your modern hotel in Miraflores for a one night stay

Nov 29
Morning site seeing of Lima with a local guide (and personal friend) before returning to the airport and flying to the magnificent ‘White City’ – Arequipa for two nights
*Arequipa is surrounded by volcanoes and is located at 2335 meters (7550 feet) – these two nights help with our altitude acclimatization
Nov 30
Morning walking tour in Arequipa and a lovely free afternoon to enjoy the city and its outstanding culinary environment
Dec 1
Transfer to Colca!
We will cross over 5000 meters (17000 feet), of spectacular scenery and descend into one of the largest canyons in the world. Tonight we sleep early at 3600 meters (11800 feet)

Dec 2
Wake up very early to look for condors! These massive birds are iconic and can be seen flying from the cliffs of the canyon.
Later we drive back over the high pass and drive east to Puno and enigmatic Lake Titicaca (known as the highest navigable lake in the world). We will stay centrally in Puno – the folklore capital of Peru – for two nights.
Dec 3
Visit the Uros floating Islands on Lake Titicaca. Free afternoon in Puno (we recommend trying trout ceviche).

Dec 4
Highlight! Today we board the train from Puno to Cusco. This is indisputable one of the most enjoyable train rides in the world! The journey includes food, commentary and has an open car for standing out and taking in the remarkable scenery.
Upon arrival into beautiful Cusco we will check into our hotel for three nights.
Dec 5
Cusco City tour. This was the capital of the Inca World and Quechua (Inca) is still spoken by a majority of the population. There is so much to see and explore in this incredible city. By now you will be fully acclimatized to the altitude and keen to explore.
Dec 6
Full Day Machu Picchu (or Rainbow Mountain for those who have been before)
For first time visitors to Peru – or South America in general – Machu Picchu is the number 1 attraction. The ‘lost city’ is breathtaking and well managed (due to so many visitors). This is one of the world’s most famous sites. You will be led by a local, licensed guide.
*For repeat visitors, we are happy to take you to the Rainbow Mountain for a nice, high altitude walk!

Dec 7
The Sacred Valley
No visit to Cusco is complete without a trip to the Sacred Valley. The market at Pisac is famous handicrafts and the climate is perfect.
Dec 8
Fly to Puerto Maldonado – the Amazon Basin!
From Cusco’s high altitude airport, we fly up and over the Andes. In less than an hour, we are deep in the Amazon. This is much, much warmer.
Upon arrival we will have a highlight city tour of this isolated jungle city.

Dec 9
Early start (due to heat) to hear out on the river and into the jungle to look for animals both in and our of the water. We will go with a local expert.
Dec 10
Flight back over the Andes to Lima. You may choose a final overnight in Peru’s Capital or connect to you flight home according to schedules.
