Beach Life
Handstanding in Australia
Visiting Australia is so much fun! My favourite parts of Australia are their beaches, the surfing and fishing. The fishing goes one of two ways – one is catching tons of fish or two is catching nothing.
Both ways are lots of fun because the scenery is amazing and if we catch nothing or lose a fish off the line, I get to make some money by fining my Uncle for swearing!!! We see lots of birds like pelicans, cormorants, herons and egrets, and they are all very good at fishing. If we are lucky we see turtles and dolphins too. We are planning to go fishing the day after tomorrow so hopefully we catch some big fish.
The beaches are really fun – I like to swim in the waves and I am learning to body surf. I also really enjoy playing in the sand and making big sandcastles. Last week at the beach I jumped face-first into a huge wave. I was trying to dive through the wave but I didn’t time it quite perfectly.
It is pretty amazing to feel just how much power a wave can have at the beach. It makes me think about some of the projects that use the power of the ocean for renewable energy and that makes a lot of sense to me.
This morning I have a skateboard lesson and next week I am going to take a surfing lesson. I took a lesson last year in Ecuador but I think another lesson will help me maximize my skills. I’m off to catch a wave, man!
